Abstract

This article explores the effectiveness of role-play as a teaching method for improving speaking skills in school children. The study emphasizes practical classroom use and shows how role-play boosts fluency, confidence, vocabulary, and interaction. It specifically highlights the use of fairy tales as a structured and engaging way to conduct role-play activities. In this method, learners read or listen to stories, take on character roles, and perform them together, which encourages meaningful communication and expressive language. The article also reviews classroom strategies, assessment techniques, and possible challenges. The results indicate that role-play is an accessible and highly effective approach that builds communication skills and encourages active participation among students.
