Abstract

Early literacy development plays a crucial role in shaping children’s future academic success, particularly in the context of learning English as a foreign language. This article examines the effectiveness of game-based learning in fostering early literacy skills among young learners. Special attention is given to phonics-based instruction, which supports the development of phonemic awareness and letter-sound correspondence. The study discusses how carefully designed educational games can enhance children’s motivation, engagement, and language acquisition. Through detailed examples of classroom games, the article demonstrates how play-based approaches contribute to the development of reading and writing skills in a natural and meaningful way. The findings suggest that integrating games into early language instruction creates a supportive learning environment that promotes both cognitive and linguistic growth.
