ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN MODERN EDUCATION: OPPORTUNITIES AND CHALLENGES FOR STUDENT-CENTERED LEARNING

Abstract
Artificial Intelligence has become one of the most transformative technologies influencing contemporary education. The integration of AI-powered systems into classrooms, online learning platforms, and academic administration has created new opportunities for improving teaching effectiveness and student learning experiences. This study examines the role of Artificial Intelligence in supporting student-centered learning in higher education environments. The research explores the impact of AI technologies on personalized instruction, academic engagement, feedback systems, independent learning, and classroom interaction. Using an IMRAD-based research framework, the study applies mixed research methods involving surveys, classroom observations, interviews, and comparative academic analysis. The findings indicate that Artificial Intelligence positively influences learning flexibility, student motivation, and instructional efficiency when implemented effectively. AI-supported educational platforms enable personalized feedback, adaptive learning pathways, and improved access to academic resources. However, the study also identifies significant challenges related to ethical concerns, academic integrity, technological inequality, and excessive dependence on automated systems. The article concludes that Artificial Intelligence can substantially enhance educational quality when combined with pedagogically responsible and human-centered instructional practices.
