METHODS FOR THE REMOVAL OF UTERINE FIBROIDS IN WOMEN

Abstract
Uterine fibroids are among the most prevalent gynaecological disorders in women of reproductive age. It is a nonmalignant neoplasm originating from the muscular layer of the uterus, capable of attaining considerable dimensions, hence impairing the function of adjacent organs and hindering conception. In many instances, the surgical excision of the fibroid is the sole efficacious therapy. Contemporary technology provide procedures that minimise trauma and maintain reproductive function. Statistics indicate that fibroids are identified in one in three women over the age of 35, with the likelihood of having the condition rising with age. Uterine fibroids are among the most prevalent indications for gynaecological surgery.
