Abstract
Encouraging risk-taking in spoken communication is a critical factor in language acquisition and personal development. When learners feel safe to take risks, they are more likely to engage in conversation, try new vocabulary, and experiment with complex structures. This paper explores the psychological, pedagogical, and environmental factors that promote or hinder risk-taking in spoken interactions, especially in second language learning contexts. It discusses effective strategies teachers and facilitators can use to build supportive learning environments, foster confidence, and reduce anxiety among learners. The goal is to enhance fluency, communication skills, and overall linguistic competence through calculated risk-taking.
