Abstract

This study explores the pragmatic and functional aspects of anthropomorphic expressions in language, focusing on how human characteristics are attributed to non-human entities to enhance communication. Anthropomorphism plays a significant role in everyday conversations, literature, media, and advertising by making abstract concepts more relatable. This paper examines the various pragmatic functions of anthropomorphism, such as emotional appeal, humor, and rhetorical emphasis, while also analyzing its role in politeness strategies and social interactions. By comparing different linguistic contexts, the study highlights cross-cultural variations and their implications for effective communication. The findings contribute to a deeper understanding of how anthropomorphism shapes meaning and interaction in language use.
