Abstract
Xo’janazar G’oyibnazar o’g’li Huvaydo (1704–1780) is one of the prominent representatives of Sufi poetry. He studied in the madrassas of Kokand, organized a school in his village, and was engaged in craftsmanship. Huvaydo’s creativity was shaped by the philosophical and Sufi influences of Khoja Yassavi, Alisher Navoi, Sofi Alloyor, and Mashrab. His divan includes 351 ghazals, 28 rubaiyat, and several other genre works. The poet's “Rohati Dil” (The Comfort of the Heart) is a perfect example of the didactic genre. In Huvaydo’s poetry, Sufi elements, including themes of worldly pleasures and human perfection, are explored through closeness to God. His works are rich in religious, ethical, and didactic meanings, and they also address social issues of society.
In Huvaydo’s poems, worldly love, metaphorical love, and ethical virtues are glorified. The poet delicately expresses human sorrow and the spiritual world in his works, creating a rich literary tradition. Manuscripts related to him are preserved in the library of Samarkand State University. Huvaydo’s descendants and followers have continued the literary and Sufi traditions.
